Testing MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lip colour review

Hey everyone, I hope you’re all doing well and welcome to my blog. Today I am going to be doing a quick review of the MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lip colour. For my birthday my boyfriend brought me one of the shades so I thought I would test it out on here. For as long as I can remember now I’ve wanted to test out MAC products especially their lip colours and I was so thankful of my boyfriend for purchasing one for me, I can just imagine how clueless he must have been when he was purchasing it ahaha. Let’s get started with the review, if you enjoy the read, make sure to give this a like and feel free to leave a comment because I always love hearing feedback and if your interested in seeing more from me, give my blog a follow!

So, first things first, I am going to include a few images of the Lipstick for anyone who hasn’t seen the lipstick before and if you haven’t, have you been living on a different planet? I remember when these were first released and I absolutely loved the look of them and I really wanted to test one out but in the end I never did. Every time I would go near a MAC store, I would always look at one particular shade which was definitely my favourite which is the shade of this and that is ‘Burnt Spice’, I just thought this was the perfect nude shade and can be warn with literally any makeup look.

Straight of the packing, I feel it looks very sleek and expensive and look sophisticated. The packaging of the Lipstick doesn’t feel cheap and you can definitely see this is a high end product. This is now priced at £18 which I must say, is way more than I would pay for a normal Lipstick which is probably why I’ve put off purchasing it for so long but if I can see a big difference from a drugstore £3 lipstick to this, I will most definitely be purchasing more.

So on MAC’s website, I was having a look at what they claimed this product at being good at, I thought it would be a good idea to include this in as I can give my honest opinion on if my review is similar to what they are promoting the Lipstick as being, so, it states that:

Long-wearing, eight hours

Colour wears evenly and smoothly, eight hours

Provides stay-true colour, eight hours

Non-feathering, non-bleeding

Right off the bat of putting it on my lips for the first time, I can definitely see a difference in the pigmentation from a drugstore Lipstick compared to this one, it is so highly pigmented and you only need the tiniest bit to cover the whole of your lips. I absolutely love the shade, it is the perfect nude shade and I was definitely right, it will go with every makeup look. I can’t see any bleeding at the moment which is amazing and it hasn’t transferred onto my teeth which is always great because who want’s to walk round with Lipstick on their teeth because I certainly don’t!! It does have a scent but it’s nothing too strong which is always good. I can’t really test the rest of the claims till later on in the day so I’ll continue writing this in a couple of hours.

So it’s now been around 5 hours since I put on the Lipstick and I have eaten and drank a lot of water and the Lipstick has wearered off the tiniest bit but it was still noticeable on the lips which is amazing because we all don’t want to continuously apply our lipstick multiple times throughout the day. I can say that it does stay true to colour the longer it has been on, it does slightly start to fade but you don’t expect any Lipstick no matter how much you pay for it to not budge.

Now it’s been 8 hours since I applied the Lipstick and I am just about to take off my makeup because its around 6 now and I have nothing else to do. From looking in the mirror, there is hardly any of the colour left on my lips but has definitely lasted a very long time, much longer than I’d expected so I will agree with the claim of it being long-lasting so if you are looking for a really good high end Liquid Lipstick, I would really recommend this one and I feel it would look amazing on any skin tone. And that is the end to my review of the Lipstick, I really hope this helped, also let me know in the comments what your favourite MAC product is because I’d be really interested to know. Thank you so much for reading, until next time x

  1. I got this exact shade for my birthday from my sister! I love it! It does fade but after quite a long time! I find mine always goes from the inside out! Fab post ❤️
