7 Ways to Detox Your Life

The past few months have consisted of assignment and exam stress and I couldn’t seem to catch a break. After completing all my assignments and exams, I felt I had lost touch with myself and I didn’t really know what to do next.

I went through a few weeks where I hated everything I was wearing, I hated my appearance and I didn’t really know who I was or what I wanted to achieve. I thought what better way than to take a few days away from the world and concentrate on my self, it sounds selfish but everyone needs to do this every once in a while. Over the couple days I was able to be in touch with myself and listen to my body. I thought it would make a really good post that both you and I can look back on when I’m feeling a bit lost.

After going on holiday to detox, well when doesn’t going to Disneyland make you the happiest person on earth? I definitely wanted to get some of my tips out there!

For this post, I have been able to narrow down 7 ways you can detox your life. Previously on my blog, I have also uploaded a couple of self-love content, if you’d like to have a read of those after this post, here are the links:

Now, I’m going to get into the 7 ways everyone can use if they want to have a refresh/detox of their life.

1. Re-evaluate your goals and what you want to achieve

Something I found really helpful when I was feeling lost and didn’t know what to do next was go over the goals I have made for 2019 and if there was any new ones, I would add them to the list. I also found it really helpful to go over my goals and see how close I am to achieving that specific goal. For example, one of my goals for 2019 was to eat healthier, I had a think of the food I had eaten throughout January and set a new goal for February.

Doing this will help you to focus on your goals and start achieving them. This will make you feel so much better within yourself and it will allow you to be happy.

2. Disconnect from social media

Having a few days away from social media can be the best thing you can do for yourself. Spending day and day out on social media can really affect a persons self esteem and the way in which they see each other. Taking a few days of or at least spending the evening away from your phone can do wonders.

As social media is part of the package when it comes to blogging, I can become quite over-whelmed and taking a few hours away really helps with my mind. A really good idea if you don’t want to disconnect from social media completely is to switch it of 2 hours before going to sleep and maybe reading a book or doing something that relaxes you. Something I’ve been doing at least half an hour before going to sleep is stretching and meditating, this has really helped me stay in touch with myself and allows me to feel stress free.

3. Tidy house, tidy mind

One of the main things that make me feel better is having a tidy space. I can’t work effectively if my room isn’t clean and organised. It makes me really stressed not knowing where everything is so making sure I know where everything is.

Am I the only one that finds cleaning thearaputic? I probably am right? I always find that cleaning and putting things in the right place can cleanse my mind and makes it so much easier to think and concentrate. Even if it’s just making your bed in the morning, every little helps!

4. Sort through your wardrobe and get rid of the things you don’t love

Do I sound like Marie Kondo or what? Every couple of months when I’m feeling stressed and want a sort out, I will always go through my wardrobe and get rid of any clothing that doesn’t bring me joy or I don’t love, this helps me feel relaxed and it helps me to keep on top of the clothing I own! I also love earning some extra coin from Depop so let that motivate you when your next sorting out your clothing!

5. Start a new hobby

Is there something you’ve wanted to do for as long as you can remember but have been to nervous to start it? start it right now. There’s nothing more refreshing in life than starting a new hobby, this could possibly be the break through you need to be happy! Over the past couple of weeks I started a Travel scrapbook and it has been something that has made me happy whenever I need a detox from the rest of the world!

6. Eat healthier and drink loads off water

Eating healthier and drinking loads of water can do wonders for your body and your mentality! For a year now I’ve tried my hardest to eat healthy and drink as much water as possible and it has helped me to feel so much better and has gave me so much more energy. I’d highly recommend introducing a healthy diet when you want to have a full detox.

7. Read a motivational book

When I’m feeling low I will always read a motivational book all about self love which motivates me to love myself and do things to develop myself further. One I’m loving at the moment is ‘How to be a Badass’ and I’ve been loving it, I’ve read it twice now and it really helps when I need that boost.

These are all my tips for detoxing your life, thank you so much for reading!
