How to Make A Media Kit for Your Blog

I have been updating my recently and I’ve been planning on creating a media kit for my blog for a while but I just haven’t had the time to do so. Last week I finally got round to creating one so I thought I would give my tips and tricks on how to create your very own media kit!

What is a Media Kit?

What is a media kit you ask? It’s kind of like a CV as such but for bloggers and you can use this when you are promoting yourself to brands. It’s a really quick and organised way of presenting your stats and plans. It’s also a super effective way of introducing yourself and your blog to companies without waffling on in an email.

What should you include?

This is kind of up to you and depends on the blog you are running. Some of the main things that I have included in mine is an introduction to myself and what I get up to outside of blogging, for example, attending university. I have also introduced my Blog and what it entails. I have also included all my stats for each social media’s, including: Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest. At the end of my media kit I have included my plans and prices so if a brand want’s to work with myself, they can pick a specific plan and they will know fully what they will get for the price. I have also included some images of my favourite blogging photography which is a really good way of showing the skills you have that isn’t just writing.

I think it is super important on knowing what is not so good to include in the kit, I don’t think it would be appropriate to take about yourself too much because the brand want to hear more about your blog rather than you, I don’t think it is also necessary to include personal information about yourself like your date of birth etc because I don’t feel like that is necessary.

What statistics should you include?

This can be quite a difficult one because everyone’s stats are different. Some can be low but some can be really high so it is important to include the statistics that make you stand out. I think an important one is how many views your blog receives and how many followers you have on your socials!

If you are a beginner with your blog and only have around 100 followers on your Instagram or Pinterest, you could put your impressions or your monthly unique views because there more than likely to be higher. An example of this is if you have a total of 250 followers on Instagram, you may get 3K impressions on your blog per week so you should include that instead!

How do you create a Media Kit?

For me, the easiest way to create a Media Kit is through the website Canva. I have been using this website since the start of my blog and it has been so useful when creating posters and blog images. If you go on their website and create an account or sign in, you can type in ‘Media Kit’ and it will come up with so many different templates that you can use for free to create your very own kit. I think this is probably the quickest and simplest way at creating your kit and it also makes it look super professional.

I guess you could also create one using Microsoft Word and Publisher really easily and you could also create one on Photoshop and use some Media Kit templates that you can purchase on Etsy.

When you have made it your own and added all the information you feel is needed, then you are good to go and now you can start promoting yourself to brands! If you liked this type of blog post, please let me know in the comments and I can do more of these posts for you!
