When Travelling, it can become quite easy to miss certain things, I know I certainly do. It never became apparent to me that I’d miss certain things while I am away because I thought I wouldn’t miss anything at all. I thought I’d put together a list of 5 things that I miss when I am travelling, let me know in the comments what you miss (if anything) when you are on the road or when you are travelling.
Also, if you are not already, please make sure to follow my blog to keep up with all my latest posts. To keep up with my life outside of my blog, definitely go and follow my instagram which is Instagram.com/chlolaurenblogs!
- The main one: Sleeping in my own bed
This is definitely something I know a lot of people miss when they are travelling and that is sleeping in your own bed. I don’t think there is anything better than sleeping in your own bed with the exact amount of comfort that you need. When I am travelling, I don’t really splash out on the rooms as it’s only a place to sleep so with that in hand, you are not going to get the best bed realistically. When I went to Copenhagen, both me and my boyfriend had to sleep in a double bed which definitely isn’t ideal so coming back home to my own bed is something I look forward to.
2. The convenience of food
When travelling, especially when staying in a hotel, food becomes a really big inconvenience for us, we are unable to get affordable ingredients and cook up something, we always need to go and purchase it from a shop or eat something that is not the best for you. This can really get to you when you are travelling to more countries than one as food prices can alternate dependent on the exchange rate etc so that’s something I bear in mind and take for granted when travelling.
3. Having time to rest and take time out
I know myself especially, I don’t like taking rests when travelling because I want all the time I can to see everything but that does come with the consequence of being tired quite a lot. When I am at home I have all the time in the world to rest and take time out so that is something I miss when travelling but at the same time it doesn’t really bother me as I’d 100% choose to be tired and see the world.
4. The cleanliness in certain situations
Obviously in certain situations the cleanliness is not expected to be the best, especially when you need to use public restrooms when you are out exploring. In some hotels the rooms aren’t always the best so that is something that needs to be taken into consideration also.
5. Drinkable Drinking Water
Out of all the places I’ve visited, only one of the countries have had drinkable drinking water, the others, I’ve had to purchase and re-purchase water which can be a big expense, especially the amount of water you will need if the weather is hot.
As these are things I miss when travelling, they are definitely things I take for granted on an everyday basis. When writing this post I came to realise that not everything comes free in this world and when it does, you should, you definitely shouldn’t take it for granted. I’m just so thankful for the privileges I do have in life.
Thank you so much for reading, I hope you have enjoyed the read!
For me bed is definitely the top thing I miss the most when travelling. Lately I’ve learned to take things slowly and not rush all the time to see everything. I much rather sit in a park and have a long lunch then just run around like I used to.
